Leadership Lessons from the Speaker

Denny Hastert:
-- The secret of winning in politics: under-promise and over- produce (the reverse of what most politicians do)

-- The Hastert formula: Build a team, leave the spotlight to others, be honest, be fair, and stick to your objectives as tenaciously as a fullback hammering at the goal line

Spiner to Do Enterprise

Michael King reports that Brent Spiner is scheduled to appear in a number of episodes of Star Trek: Enterprise next season as Dr. Noonian Soong.

Further proof that Berman and Braga are running out of ideas...

Spiner is cool and all, but...sheesh... Ugh!

Clinton's Legacy: Men Are Dogs

As some of you may know, I work in an office of mostly women. Women have been assaulting our gender for quite some time now.

For the longest time, I bought in to it. My parents divorced when I was a youngin' and I grew up with a "Man Hating" Mom and didn't have a strong male influence in my life. So, I tended to believe what my mother illustrated to me: men were not to be trusted (and by extension, I felt, that included me).

So, right about now, you're thinking, "What the bejesus does this have to do with Bubba?"

Well, yesterday afternoon, my boss comes walking through the bullpen and one of my co-workers asks her about the book she's been reading. You guessed it: Bill Clinton's My Life. This is the same boss who loaned me her copy of Dick Clarke's mostly fictional account of 9/11, Against All Enemies.

Anyway, my point was that by all accounts I've seen, Clinton discusses the Lewinsky Debacle very briefly and he spends most of that time blaming Ken Starr.

What the women in the office pointed out shocked me. You see, Clinton has become my symbol for what is wrong with America. And I couldn't have been given a greater gift than this conversation. Women have given up on marriage. They have given up on love. They have given up on men.

You see, they say, no man can resist a woman. It doesn't matter that they are married. A woman who offers herself to a man is just too irresistable. Poppycock! These women don't have faith in their marriage because they don't have faith in their men. And they don't have faith in their men because all you hear about are the cheating bastards. Real men who believe in the sanctity of marriage and actually love and respect their wives don't get that kind of press. And because of that, all men suffer from the image of playboys like Bubba.

And to me, the impeachment was never about the sex (although I find it appalling and revolting that a married man would continue to do this and the wife continues to enable him by "Standing By Her Man"), it was about lying under oath. The Chief Law Enforcement Oficer of the United States of America should never lie under oath. Liberals tend to forget that. When you put your hand on the Bible and swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help you God; you better tell the truth. And the corruption of the system and the personnel under President Clinton in order to "save" his presidency is absurd and a nasty excuse.

So, Bubba, thanks...your legacy that you continue to seek to rewrite is that Men Are Dogs...you will never escape that reality that you created, shaped, tried to cover up, and exposed.
