Freaky Friday - Halloween
Well, everybody, I made it through yet another week! (applause)
The Olive Garden trip tonight should be very interesting as Tom has not heard from Sam yet...maybe that restraining order is right around the corner afterall...

Threat Matrix
This series seems kinda formulaic to me...last nights episode was the "court martial the hero" story (also known as the trial on false charges story). It was a well executed and acted episode, but the story was a bit predictable as were the methods of the terrorist-of-the-week.MI-5
This show has fallen off my radar and now I have no idea when it is on. It appears Bravo moved it from the Tuesday 9PM slot, but I have no idea when it is on at all now...email me if you can help.Interesting Halloween Fact
Number of trick-or-treaters that have come a knocking on Maestro Matt's door in the last four years: 0Reds Update
As I earlier reported, my beloved Cincinnati Reds hired former Texas Rangers GM Dan Obrien. The much better candidate, in my opinion, was Omar Minaya from the Montreal Expos. Turns out, Omar saw what the Reds were planning to spend on the team's roster and PASSED. That is very telling to this baseball fan. Obrien has indicated that he plans to "grow" some talent and that means we won't be contending any time soon.Weapons of Mass Discussion
I'm leaking it here folks, we are in the development stages of a local, cable-access television show of the WMD website featuring Mark G. and myself. We're coming up on our 500th visitor since 9/26/03 and want to thank everybody for their support.Thursday, October 30, 2003
The Mid-Week Round-Up
It has been an interesting week thus far. Work has been it's usual dull challenge; my friends continue to spar; television has been good this week (more on that in a minute); and I'm closed to finishing up the Battlestar Galactica DVD set.
NCIS
Very interesting episode. There were plenty of potential villians for this who-done-it plot. And I was pleased with the outcome...I sure didn't immediately suspect the blonde "hottie" upon first introduction.Enterprise
Getting back on track with this episode! That is a good thing. No more Beauty and the Beast episodes... The Shipment was a well thought out and well executed story. It looks like the intrepid crew may have found a more useful ally in their fight against the Xindi!West Wing
Another fairly good episode. You know, sometimes I think it is intersting how the West Wing tries to make the Republicans appear so evil, yet they aren't that far apart (at least on the show) in ideaology, philosophy, and tactics. The Marlins Win!
I've been neglecting my baseball duties...What has turned out to be my worst analysis of a situation in quite some time, the Marlins managed to slay Goliath. I'm impressed and happy to hear that Jack Mack won't be packing a sack. McKeon deserved a contract extension. Tell me, again, why Bowden needed to fire Jack and hire Bob Buffoone...Monday, October 27, 2003
Another Week in Paradise Begins
Well, it is another Monday here in Pleasantville...the weather is getting colder and the skies are getting darker...
Such lovely thoughts...
I am debating writing about a situation involving a friend of mine who asked me to call him on it when he started acting like an @$$. I think it is probably best left for an email though, so I won't put you, my dear readers, through all of that.
My good friend Tom managed to get the number of Sam(antha), the fiesty, young waitress from Olive Garden that has been hanging out with us when we are there lately on Fridays. I wonder how that is going. Tom has a reputation for getting "restraining orders" from OG waitresses, but I think this one has some potential...
This is an outrage. We should have gotten Montreal Expos' Omar Minaya. A MUCH better candidate if I ever saw one. What this club needs is a GM who has skills and isn't afraid to go make the deal. I'm not of the opinion that the former Texas Rangers GM is the way to go.
Can this mean that we'll get a second-tier choice for field management as well? One is left wondering...
I hope I am wrong about this guy...because he's here for at least three years.
I am about halfway through the series on DVD. Man, this is good stuff. The few really bad special effects issues (seeing the suspension cables that are keeping Starbuck and Apollo "floating" in space for example) are forgiveable considering the time this show was made.
The new mini-series (there is a featue on the DVD) is looking awful. Again, I hope I am wrong, but it doesn't look good at this point.
There is a new X-BOX and PS2 game coming (sometime this fall according to the feature) that looks good. It is a first person shooter type of game, so I won't be able to play it (those games make me sick).
Well, that's about all I got for now...

Pretty good episode last night. This show is actually getting better. The realism still isn't there yet, but at least the characters are staying true to their intentions (unlike the craziness happening on Enterprise).Thursday, October 23, 2003
What A Crazy Day
Internet access has been down most of the day here at work. Which means that this afternoon has been rather entertaining. I got it all done, but I hate those days where it is wait, wait, wait and then rush, rush, rush!
Haircut Good
The hair looks and feels good! Thanks for the concern and interest... : )Best Buy Reward Zone
So on Tuesday night, I spent big bucks at Best Buy. Guess what came in the mailbox on Wednesday? hat's right, my reward certificate... Great timing! Oh well...will save that for West Wing: Season One I guess.Wednesday, October 22, 2003
Time For A Haircut
My hair is out of control. It is time to go to the Follicle Engineers and get this mess straightened out! It's been kind of windy lately, and my hair doesn't stay still when the breeze picks up...and that ain't good.
DVD Time
Went to Best Buy last night and picked up the Battlestar Galactica set and the Indiana Jones set. Spent more money there than I have in a LONG time!
Started watching a bit of the BG last night. The set looks pretty darn good and is packed with extras...for a television show anyway.
NCIS / JAG
Missed a couple minutes of the opening (finishing up the three part pilot of BG), so I really have no idea what the "B" story involving the terrorist-looking guy was all about. The cool thing about this show is how they bring in the minor characters from JAG to the story lines. Finally, we get an ending to Commander Lindsey...that guy always freaked me out! And I sure didn't see it coming...unless Lindsey appeared in the opening that I missed...That's about all I got for now...

Matt's Back
I apologize, yet again, to my loyal readers. I have been rather busy at work and what little time I have had to devote to blogging has been geared towards WMD.
Threat Matrix
I caught the Drugs Support Terrorism episode of TM last night. I liked the episode, but think that maybe this particular episode was a little too "preachy" for my tastes.Enterprise
The "Beauty and the Beast" episode last week was ridiculous. Hoshi was one ofthose characters that I was actually starting to respect. I just don't understand what the Paramount execs hope to accomplish with this drivel...Wednesday, October 15, 2003
I Was Going To Write Something Tonight...
...but I just can't seem to get the writer's block cleared with my friends sniping at each other.
Work Is Picking Up
It's been a very busy the last few days. I haven't had much time to blog or otherwise play...
In Other News...
Went to Best Buy last night to pick up Reloaded and Final Frontier. Watched Reloaded last night...I still like this film and can't understand why people didn't...
NCIS
Good episode last night...the RPG episode was well thought out and fairly well executed.Tuesday, October 14, 2003
DVD Time
Last week, I missed the release of The Italian Job, so I'll be picking that up along with Matrix: Reloaded and the Collector's Edition of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. Looking forward to the big Battlestar Galactica releases next week. Ordinarily, I'd link you to reviews from DVD Verdict, but the fine folks over there have yet to publish reviews of any of these films (that I could find anyway).
We're still a couple weeks away from the release of West Wing: Season One, which I will be all over...

A Brief Update
Enterprise
Okay, so now we can say we've had a Star Trek episode based on a zombie video game. I ain't impressed yet.West Wing
Why do the writers of this show continue to make Republicans look like they are evil, power-hungry thugs? It ain't true... This show is really good, but the portrayal of conservatives on the show is starting to really turn me off.NCIS
Very good episode this week! I was wondering if we were going to get a drug dealer/terrorist episode this early...Wednesday, October 08, 2003
News From the Front
The fight on the War Against the Cube Collective took another twist today. A collegue managed to get herself suspended for three days and guess who gets to pick up the slack. That's right, folks, me. Needless to say, I won't have much time to devote to blogging and what little time I will have will be given to WMD. I just thought you all should know...

My phone is ringing...
I have voicemail...

Monday Mania
Here we start yet another week in paradise...it is starting to get colder and darker as the dreaded winter approaches.
Threat Matrix Recap
Hannity's cameo was quite entertaining, but the big surprise ofthe episode was the guest starring appearance of Star Trek: The Next Generation's Mirina Sirtis (Counselor Troi) as evil Dr. Hassan. Her portrayal of this villianess was kinda flat at times, but overall a good performance!
No WMD Update Today
Absolutely nothing exciting happening so far today. We're following the Syria/Israel/UN story but are going to wait until the UN does something before jumping on the story.

Friday Revelations
I haven't put a site meter on this blog because quite frankly I didn't care if people were reading this stuff or not. This blog has served as my place for "dumping" thoughts and ideas that I didn't feel the need to post elsewhere but wanted to talk about. I do have a site meter on WMD because I do care about the traffic over there; I noticed that a number of the hits to WMD were via here. So I am gratified to know that people actually drop in and read my "personal" stuff from time to time. I'll try to do better about posting more intersting "stuff" here, but no promises! : )
OG Update
On Friday nights usually I can found with the gang (Eric, Mark G., and Doug - and friends) at Olive Garden. Things haven't been going to well lately between a number of us, so it will probably be a "smaller gang" tonight.
DVD Update
Also, you may have noticed, regular readers, that I haven't been talking about my DVD habit...that's because I haven't bought a new DVD in two weeks! That 12 step program must really be helping! Actually, I'm starting to save up some bank (that's money) for some titles that haven't come out yet that I am really looking forward to, but wouldn't otherwise grab due to the price tag. West Wing and Battlestar Galactica being chief among them...
That's all the news I got that's fit for print today...until next time...

Today's the Day
It is beginning to like like the fourth quarter business is finally starting to pick up here at work. That is a good sign!
Enterprise
Last night's episode wasn't too bad. Although a retread story idea, I thought the idea of the Xindi using a woman to get information was pretty smart. It appears though that the humans have a new ally on the inside though, and that can't hurt.West Wing
Acting President Walken steps aside as Zoe Bartlett is saved. Great conclusion to the story arc! And they did try to make Walken (John Goodman) a bad guy, but in the end the Republican staffer had it right - Walken couldn't take advantage of his situation because he would have been seen by the American people doing so, and that wouldn't fit the values and morals of the party. Politics is kinda strange like that...Threat Matrix
Tonight is the night for Sean Hannity's guest appearance. Should be pretty darn cool!Wednesday, October 01, 2003
An Apology To Loyal Readers
My Dear Readers, (if any)
I have been remiss in my duties to keep you informed! I most humbly apologize and beg your forgiveness...
Navy NCIS
I checked out the premiere of this new show and will admit that I rather liked it. Not too many characters (like Threat Matrix) and just enough ties to another of my faves (JAG) that it isn't too much of a departure for me. I'm sure Eric will say that if I really like Navy NCIS (what a stupid title by the way, NCIS would have been enough), that I would like CSI.Looking forward to Sean Hannity's appearance on Threat Matrix...and this week's episode of Star Trek: Enterprise looks interesting (if an overdone story). West Wing continues to thrill as well...I'm liking the John Goodman character more and more!
Well, not much else happening that I should report here...check out WMD for the political stuff...as usual...
